Thanks to Ajoobacats Blog for nominating me for this award. I really appreciate it. It took a while to get to this, but I’ve finally managed to take time off from procrastinating. Meh.

 The Award Rules

Thank the person who nominated you!
Answer the 11 questions you were asked.
Nominate 11 other bloggers and let them know they were nominated.
Ask the nominees 11 questions

Ajoobacats Blog’s Questions

1. Have you ever belonged to a book club? What was it called?
I have not but I want to. People in my area don’t read much. I’m pretty active on Goodreads and belong to several groups. Maybe those count as book clubs?

2. If a friend, who doesn’t read much asked you for a book recommendation right now, which book would you recommend?
My answer for this won’t change for a while. Vanishing Girls by Lauren Oliver. That book was amazing and practically changed my life. I’ve been reading All the Bright Places by Jennifer Niven and it comes pretty close.

3. What’s your favourite film franchise?
Oh…I don’t watch movies much so I don’t really have any favourites. But I like Marvel movies. I guess off the top of my hat, I’ll have to say Iron Man…with Iron Man 3 being my most liked – although the ending of that movie killed me. Like how?

4. Which literary stereotype bugs you the most?
I don’t know why it doesn’t bother me when it’s the guy being affected (I’m still trying to figure this out), but when a girl meets a boy and her whole world changes. Everything revolves around him. I can’t stand that. It’s like: ‘Woman, you were fine before you met him, and you’ll be fine after. Get a hold of yourself!’

5. Which book are you currently reading?
I’m reading about 11 books but I’m focusing on All the Bright Places by Jennifer Niven. I’d heard it was good but I’m really loving it. I’m also reading The Lovely Bones by Alice Sebold, great writing, loving the story but I need to pace it. My imagination is too wild for that book.

6. What’s your favourite horror thriller?
I don’t like horror. Thriller, I don’t mind. I don’t read it often either…I mostly stick to fantasy and Dystopian/YA. I imagine I’d like the Hannibal Lecter series when I finally start it. That’s a psychological thriller.

7. Name the most heinous literary villain you have ever read.
Queen Levana from the Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer. I haven’t read Fairest, so even if they pull a Maleficent, I’ll still despise her.

8. Name a book you have read and enjoyed that was translated from another language into English?
Sapphire Blue by Kerstin Gier. It was originally published in German I think. Loved the entire trilogy. I’m planning on watching the movies even though I won’t understand a word.

9. What’s your favourite period in history?
For someone who hates conflict, I really like reading about the WWII era. It wasn’t a great time but it affected everyone and some stories I read are true, some are versions of the truth. I don’t know why, but most of the time if I see a WWII novel and I like the synopsis, I’ll buy it.

10. If you were to write a book, which genre would you write?
I do write actually. Irony strikes again. I hate romance books but I write stories that are filled with such cliche romance it’s funny almost. I don’t tag them as romance though, I tag them as Drama/Fiction.

11. Have you ever been to a book signing? If yes, which author?
No, I haven’t. It’s a sad fact really. Brandon Sanderson was in a town near me and I wanted to go until I remembered that I’ve never read a book by him nor do I own any.

My 11 Nominees.

  1. Through the Wardrobe
  2. Can’t Stop Reading
  3. From Narnia to Neverland

  6. The Reading Shelf
  7. A Dance with Books
  8. Read and Reviewed
  9. By Hook Or By Book
  10. Books & Cleverness
  11. Dat Little Blog

My Questions.

  1. If you could choose one place to read in/at and you can only change it once every five years (bookstore, home-bed, sofa, etc, a park, beach…you get the drill), what would it be?
  2. Preferred reading snack?
  3. What was it that made you love your favourite book?
  4. A quote that stuck with you, not necessarily your favourite.
  5. Dream book destination. (Perceive this how you will)?
  6. Favourite subject?
  7. Do you like poetry?
  8. How do you typically mark your page? (bookmark, piece of paper…etc.)
  9. Do you think you own enough books?
  10. Favourite series?
  11. Would you say you’re addicted to books?

The Liebster Award

The Liebster Award is an award for bloggers. It helps to discover new blogs and to build a sense of community in the blogging world!

I’d like to thank Savannah from Geekish Books for nominating me for this award!

These are the rules:

  • Thank the blogger(s) who nominated you
  • Answer the 11 questions the blogger gives you
  • Nominate 11 bloggers that you think are deserving of the award
  • Let the bloggers know you nominated them
  • Give them 11 questions of your own

The Questions!

What is your favourite book?

This changes all the time but my favourite(s) right now are City of Heavenly Fire by Cassandra Clare and Vanishing Girls by Lauren Oliver

How long have you been blogging?

Oh, not long at all. I just passed 4 months. It’ll be a year this August. 🙂

Who is your favourite author?

This also changes all the time. Right now, I think it’d be Marissa Meyer because I feel like she’s the book whisperer or something.

Are there any authors/books that you really don’t like?

I don’t think there are any authors that I dislike. Each book is different and different feelings are put into them. Some endings of certain books irritate me though.

How many [approximately] books do you have?

I just catalogued last night. I own exactly 263 physical books. All of my ebooks are free for the public or books I got from authors to review (so I don’t typically count them in).

Have you read fanfiction, if so what was it?

I read countless fanfiction daily. I take 80,000 words as light reading in fanfiction. My main ship is Destiel and then I branch off into the Harry Potter fandom as well.

Do you like Ebooks? why or why not?

I don’t mind them. Most times I prefer the physical books but ebooks allow me to read in the dark, so that’s a plus.

Hardcover or paperback, and why?

Paperback all the way. I own a few hardcovers though. Paperbacks are easier to hold.

Do you consider yourself a fast/slow reader?

I do read pretty fast but most of the time I take my time. I get distracted easily so I don’t find myself often finishing a 300+ pages book in a day (it has happened many times though).

Books that made you cry?

There are dozens and I can’t remember all of them. I do know a fanfiction made me cry a few weeks ago. Ah, I think it was this ARC of Ghostboy, Chameleon & the Duke of Graffiti by Olivia Wildenstein that was the last book that made me cry.

Books that made you scared/fearful?

The Ocean at the End of the Lane by Neil Gaiman. Amazing writer, amazing stories but that book just creeped me out. I’m staying lightyears away from Coraline.

The Blogger Recognition Award

Thank you Sue’s Reading Corner for nominating me!

1. Select 15 other blogs you want to give this award to. Do some digging if you must! Find those blogs. You cannot nominate yourself or the person who has nominated you.

2. Write a post to show off your award! Give a brief story of how your blog got started, and give a piece or two advice to new bloggers. List who nominated you in your post. Make sure to attach the award yourself!

3. Comment on each blog to let them know you’ve nominated them. Provide a link to your award post.

4. Provide a link to the original post on Edge of NightThis way, anyone can find the original post if needed, and we can keep it from mutating and becoming confusing!

How I got Started:

Reading is my passion and I’ve been reviewing books for authors for a while now so I decided to create a blog. Its never too late, as they say. I’ve had likes and comments on my reviews on Goodreads so I thought I’d broaden my horizons.

Advice:

  1. Keep your blog updated. People follow you because they find you/your posts interesting and want to see more. Sure, new people will come but you do risk the chance of losing followers if people see that you’re note around much. Tell us what’s in that amazing mind of yours. We’d like to know too!
  2. Be patient/kind. Getting 100 followers in your first hour when you have next to no experience or previous following is almost impossible. Be patient, wait, those followers will come. (Follow no.1 and that follower/viewer amount will increase) Be kind. No one likes rude people. If you’re kind to your fellow bloggers, you could make friends and learn more as you go along.

For the Blogger Recognition Award, I nominate:

  1. The Book Wars
  2. Life After Books
  3. I Will Never Own Enough Books
  4. The Wild Bookworms
  5. Brittany Marie Reads
  6. A Little Blog of Books
  7. Tipsy Lit

  10. A World of Books
  11. In Libris Veritas
  12. Bookwormaniac
  13. Book Guy Reviews
