The newest standalone Adventure Time story written by the head writer of the show!
If you love ADVENTURE TIME, you can’t get beat a comic series written by one of the show’s writers and the creator of Root Beer Guy! Also great if you like bananas… Turns out that there is a lot to being a Banana Guard; but being a Banana is not mandatory. This crazy adventure follows Root Beer Guy as he starts his search for new recruits among Ooo’s citizens. Only the best will do in this quest to protect the Candy Kingdom! Not only are the Banana Guards hilarious as the Candy Kingdom’s protectors, but this series is written by Kent Osborne, head writer of the ADVENTURE TIME show. Kent is responsible for some of our favorite episodes of the show and we’re thrilled to have him write his first comic book. This collection includes Adventure Time: Banana Guard Academy #1-#6.
I’ve maybe watched two episodes of Adventure Time and I liked it a lot. I don’t have much time to watch the series but I’m sure I’ll get to it some time.
Princess Bubblegum decides to open Banana Guard Academy to everyone so you don’t have to be a banana to join. This drives everyone in the land crazy with happiness…except the Commandant of course who believes in the old system.
We follow the characters as they go through rigorous training methods and lessons so that they can graduate and officially be a part of the Banana Guard. We happen upon a plot twist when turns on the bananas as well and then there’s a crack in the fracture of time? (Totally thought of Doctor Who as I read that)
To be honest, I found this entire story and that’s a good thing right now. I like weird. There was enough of a plot for the story to actually be followed and I even forgot about Jake and Finn until they appeared right at the end. The writing was funny and humorous and the artwork was great. There was so much detail put in. It really was nice to look at.
After reading this, I think I’m going to try harder to get to the show now. I know it’s good. I have no doubts about that. It’s all about making time.
